 Both the Explorer and the Edge have three engines from which you can choose. We'll take a look at the choices for the Explorer first. The standard engine for the 2018 Ford Explorer is the 3.5-liter Ti-VCT V6 that produces a solid 290 horsepower and 255 lb-ft of torque. The Explorer is available with a 2.3-liter EcoBoost® I-4 engine that puts out 280 horsepower with its 310 lb-ft of torque. The Explorer is also available with the 3.5-liter EcoBoost® V6 that gives you a commanding 365 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque.

Over in the Edge, you'll find that the standard engine is a 2.0-liter EcoBoost® I-4 that generates 245 horsepower along with 275 lb-ft of torque. The Edge is available with two more engines. The next is another 2.3-liter EcoBoost® I-4 that also gives you 245 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque. The final available Ford Edge engine is the 2.7-liter EcoBoost® V6. This one delivers a robust 315 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque.

As these specs make clear, both vehicles provide a wide array of options when it comes to power under the hood. This way, you have the ability to find the one that fits in the best with your particular needs and sensibilities.

Convenient Safety and Entertainment Features

 The 2018 Ford Explorer and the Ford Edge have notable safety features. For example, they both come standard with rearview cameras. The one you'll find in the Explorer includes backup assist grid lines that make it even easier for you every time you throw it in reverse.
