Ford is the king of pickup truck sales, even in a market focused on fuel economy and environmental conservation. To adapt to this evolving market, the 2020 Ford F-150 Hybrid, a hybrid-electric version of the best-selling pickup truck, is on the way.

Drivers in Cincinnati, Newport, and Covington can find out what to expect from the upcoming 2020 Ford F-150 Hybrid with this review created by Fuller Ford.

Ford F-150 Hybrid Powertrain

Drumming up anticipation for the all-new Ford F-150, Ford has kept most of the details about the hybrid model under wraps. We do know a few things, however.

For truck purists, the concern is whether the legendary power and capability of the gas-powered F-150 are possible with a hybrid engine, but hybrid powertrains are able to produce high torque ratings, especially in the low end.

With that in mind, it's possible that the hybrid F-150 model will exceed expectations and blow away its gas-powered counterparts. Ford also stated that the hybrid model will offer best-in-class towing and payload capability, as well as a mobile generator that can provide you with electricity on-the-go.

What is the 2020 Ford F-150 Hybrid MPG?

With the new hybrid powertrain, this new F-150 model is predicted to deliver excellent fuel economy. This is determined by considering the half-ton Power Stroke® 3.0L diesel's fuel economy numbers of an EPA-estimated 22 city/30 highway MPG.

Fuel economy isn't the primary focus of the new F-150 hybrid, though. Although the market expresses interest in fuel economy, the hybrid engine is focused too on utility and providing convenient electrical power to equipment on job sites.

Other F-150 Hybrid Powertrains and Features

Though the official specs haven't been released, we expect that many of the gas- and diesel-powered engines will transfer over from the previous model year. The 2019 F-150 features a base 3.3L V6 engine that puts out 290 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque.

Optional engines include a 5.0L V8 with 395 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque, a 2.7L V6 with 325 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque, and a 3.5L V6 with 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. For the most heavy-duty needs, the 3.0L Power Stroke® V6 produces 250 horsepower and 440 lb-ft of torque, and a high-output 3.5L EcoBoost® V6 outputs 450 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque.

Properly equipped, the 2019 F-150 can tow up to 13,200 pounds and haul a payload of nearly 3,300 pounds. These numbers are incredible, so we can't wait to see what the new year brings. We can also expect some of the unique Ford towing features to carry over, such as dynamic hitch assist and Pro Trailer Backup Assist™.
