Sure, Cincinnati may be 1,800 miles away from Mexico, but boy can we whip up an authentic and creative Mexican dish. So, if you have a craving for some south-of-the-border cuisine, head down to one of our favorite Mexican restaurants in the Cincinnati area.
Nada
Nada is a vibrant and lively establishment, serving up crowd-pleasing tacos and cocktails. They offer five locations around the Midwest, Mid Atlantic, and South, including one on Walnut St. here in Cincy.
Their Fried Avocado Tacos, with chipotle bean puree, pickled cabbage, maple, pickled red onions, and pepitas are exceptional, as are their Chicken Al Carbon tacos, which wrap black bean puree, pico de gallo, guacamole, Chihuahua cheese, and chicken in a flour tortilla. Finish off with a Chile-Mango margarita, complete with a salted rim.
Follow them on Facebook for events and specials, and to make a reservation.
El Coyote
El Coyote, a family-owned business, has been serving steaks, chops, and Tex-Mex since 1983 when owners Dan and Tom McClanahan brought their successful NYC restaurant home to Cincinnati.
Do yourself a favor (or should we say "flavor") and try the Quesadilla Coyote. This soft flour tortilla dish comes packed with cheddar cheese, beans, onions, and your choice of meat. It's served with guacamole or sour cream. Wash it all down with one of their fan favorites-a pitcher of margaritas for the table.
Check them out on Facebook for mouth-watering photos of their most popular dishes.
Django Western Taco
Django Western Taco serves up thoughtfully inspired and eclectic Tex-Mex cuisine in a casual, laid-back atmosphere on Cincy's northside. They also feature a taco window for walk-up service.
If you want a bit more Tex in your Mex, try the Fried Chicken Tacos, stuffed with buttermilk fried chicken, house pimento cheese, and Chipotle honey. We also recommend the veggie tacos for our meatless friends, which come filled with butternut squash, spicy broccoli, mushrooms, and quinoa.
This establishment is BYOB, but they serve kombucha on draft. We recommend the Elixir Watermelon Jalapeno. Find them on Facebook for taco-themed memes.
