Ford Escape Gas Mileage
The Ford Escape comes standard with a 1.5L EcoBoost® engine. It generates 181 horsepower and 190 lb-ft of torque. It's partnered up with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Together, they achieve an EPA-estimated 27 city/33 highway/30 combined MPG.
This engine can also be paired to the available Intelligent AWD. It will give you more traction on slick roads and shifts the MPG rating to an EPA-estimated 26 city/31 highway/28 combined MPG. It also includes All-Wheel Drive Disconnect, so you can opt for efficient front-wheel drive (FWD) cruising when all-wheel drive (AWD) power is not needed.

If you need more power, you'll want to opt for the 2.0L EcoBoost® engine. It cranks out 250 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. It can only be paired with Intelligent AWD and boasts an EPA-estimated 23 city/31 highway/26 combined MPG.
Ford Escape Hybrid MPG
If you're looking to enhance the Ford Escape MPG rating, you can opt for one of its hybrid powertrains. The first is the available 2.5L iVCT Atkinson Cycle I-4 engine. It generates 200 horsepower and 155 lb-ft of torque.

When paired with FWD, the Escape Hybrid achieves an EPA-estimated 44 city/37 highway/41 combined MPG. The Intelligent AWD, however, changes its MPG rating to an EPA-estimated 43 city/37 highway/40 combined MPG.
You can also opt for all-electric MPG and plug-in convenience with the available 2.5L iVCT Atkinson Cycle I-4 Plug-In Hybrid engine. Plus, when using a 240-volt, Level 2 charger, you'll have a full charge in as little as 3.5 hours.
