If you're looking for a gourd time during the Halloween season, nothing beats heading to a fall festival to find the perfect canvas for your next spooky jack-o-lantern. Maybe you'll even get lost in a corn maze or two, or take a hayride and splash your friends with straw.
However you spend the day, a fall pumpkin festival is a great destination for some lighthearted fun while enjoying the crisp autumn air. Here are a couple of our favorite pumpkin festivals near Cincinnati, OH.
Shaw Farms
Shaw Farms is all about the fall fun. In addition to the pick-your-own pumpkin patch with over 500 tons of pumpkins to choose from, they also host a fall festival from mid-September through the end of October.
The festival features a 15-acre corn maze, hayrides, and two interactive playgrounds featuring farm animal meet-and-greets. We recommend heading over on the weekends to enjoy live music from the house bluegrass band before hopping aboard the horse-drawn hayride to tour the 160-acre farm.
While you're there, be sure to stock up on farm-fresh produce like sweet corn, potatoes, and apples. Follow them on Facebook for pictures of recent events and fresh, seasonal fruits and veggies.
Burger Farm & Garden Center
Sporting the distinction of #1 Pumpkin Patch/Farm by Cincinnati Magazine, Burger Farm & Garden Center has been family-owned and -operated since 1904 and provides fresh plants and gardening accessories, as well as holiday-themed attractions.
Their Fall Pumpkin Festival runs every weekend in October and features over 30 attractions for the whole family to enjoy, including pony rides, puppet shows, hayrides, barnyard games, and animal petting areas. They also have live entertainment from local bands all afternoon long. Don't forget to ask about their Fall Birthday Party Package.Â
Check them out on Facebook to learn about their new farm kittens, special sales, and their occasional television appearances.
Kinman Farms
Kinman Farms offers year-round family fun with festivals to celebrate every season. If you're looking to get your autumnal fix, head over to their annual Fall Festival, which has been a community staple for over a decade.
The festivities run every weekend from late September through the end of October and feature hayrides, a corn maze, Kinman's Carnival Tent, live music, and even Lazer Tag. Come hungry because they have a grill that's fired up and ready to serve fresh-grilled hot dogs, bratts, and pulled pork sandwiches.
Don't leave without stocking up on farm fresh zucchini, peaches, and potatoes, or grabbing a seasonal shrub to add to your garden at home. Visit them on Facebook to learn what veggies and fruits are available at their produce stand.Â
Hit the Pumpkin Fests and Have Some Fun!
All three pumpkin patches keep the fall fests going all month long, so you'll have plenty of opportunities to check them all out. So, go ahead: get out there and enjoy the festivities!
