2018 Ford Transit Vanwagon Review

Do you run a delivery service or small business near Cincinnati, Newport or Covington? Need to transport your team to the worksite or a conference? Whether you're moving plenty of people or cargo, the 2018 Ford Transit may be just the commercial van you're looking for.

At Fuller Ford, we've put together this 2018 Ford Transit Vanwagon review to give you a better idea of all this fleet vehicle can do!

2018 Transit: Van or Wagon?

The 2018 Transit Vanwagon comes in two different configurations: the Cargo Van, ideal for moving large amounts of work materials, and the Passenger Wagon, perfect for shuttling people.

There's a set of features you'll find in both configurations, like an available SYNC 3® infotainment system with navigation, to help you find your destination more quickly, and lane keeping alert, to warn you if you start drifting from your lane.

And that's not all: the optional MyKey® feature can help you monitor and set limits for your fleet drivers on everything from speed to audio volume and more. It's a great way to add a little more security to your operations.

Engine Performance Specs

The base Ford Transit Vanwagon runs on 3.7L Ti-VCT V6 engine, good for 275 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. Ti-VCT uses variable control of valve cam timing to optimize performance through the entire range of power, giving this engine solid acceleration.

If you like, you can upgrade to the 3.5L EcoBoost® V6. It uses direct injection and turbocharging to boost output to 310 horsepower and a massive 400 lb-ft. Direct injection sprays fuel directly into each cylinder for increased fuel efficiency, and the turbocharger recycles your exhaust fumes to deliver a power boost when you need it.

Finally, you can go the diesel route with a 3.2L Power Stroke® turbodiesel I-5, which produces 185 horses and 350 lb-ft. You have a lot of flexibility in terms of engine options, and it's just a matter of choosing the right one for the job you need done.

Performance Capabilities

The 2018 Transit Cargo Van can really lighten your load, with a payload that ranges from 3,020 to 4,650 pounds, so you can carry all the materials, tools and technology you need to the worksite. And with a max towing capacity of 7,500 pounds when properly equipped, you can cart a trailer with even more materials.

If you opt for the 2018 Transit Passenger Wagon, you can get a 130-inch wheelbase, with standard 8- and available 10-passenger options. If you need even more room, there's an option with a 148-inch wheelbase and standard 12- or available 15-people seating. No matter the size of your team, there's a Transit to hold the whole crew!
